At Cartersville Ob/Gyn Associates, we've always felt that a well informed patient is best prepared to make the kind of health care decisions that are in her best interests.  In that spirit, we have decided to compile an authoritative and current collection of patient education materials.  These consist variously of documents and pamphlets on our own web site, as well as pre-screened links to credible and accurate web sites published by knowledgeable medical providers.

We encourage you to make full use of this resource, and feel free to print the material for future reference, or for discussion with your physician or midwife.   We feel that an educated patient will be empowered to make the right choices for her particular situation, especially since for many conditions there are often several options as far as management.  We always encourage the patient to ask any and all questions about her concerns until she feels that she understands completely why a particular course of management is suggested by her health care provider.

Below are some explanations of abbreviations in the listing of hyperlinks in the column to the left:

ACOG Pamphlets - Educational pamphlets/brochures published and/or approved by A.C.O.G., which is the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, the primary organization which sets the standard of care for ob/gyn medicine.  This link goes to a page for our practice on the Medem network, which is co-sponsored by ACOG and several other specialty societies.  Halfway down the page you'll see a listing of the most commonly requested topics.  Feel free to print, save or share any of these and always feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns.

Uterine Conditions - This link points to the Uterus1.com site, where information is available for various conditions that affect the uterus, such as adenomyosis, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, endometrial hyperplasia, endometriosis, fibroids, heavy bleeding/menorrhagia, uterine cancer, polyps, and others. Be sure to check out Dr. Ribot's interview as the web site's current Uterus Hero™!

ARHP - Association of Reproductive Health Professionals; this is a very comprehensive site containing up to the minute information on contraception.

ASRM - The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (formerly the American Fertility Society); this is the primary organization that obstetrician/gynecologists belong to and look to for standards of care when it comes to reproductive and fertility issues.

INCIID - InterNational Council on Infertility Information Dissemination; a most comprehensive site dealing with all manner of topics related to infertility, adoption, and parenting.

HysterSisters - This website is a woman to woman place on the internet built entirely by Hyster Sisters for Hyster Sisters for hysterectomy support.
